As with most models a little research goes a long way and I became very interested in the history of the type 21 U-boots. this particular models design is actually¬† taken from the ‘Wilhelm Bauer’ (originally designated U-2540) at Bremerhaven Germany. Link

Here is my completed model:

Just to get started, I assembled the mast (conning tower) and put it to one side.
Next was the interior ‘pressure hull’ with extensive painting. The bunk beds had a little blanket placed on each one:-).

The two halves of the outer hull was dry fitted with the pressure hull many times to get the correct fit, removing plastic from the rear of the bulkheads as needed. Once the two halves was finally glued and sanded, I added some ribbing between the hulls at the correct spacing, made from card!

The display stand shows the blueprint for the actual U2540. The idea for putting it on the stand was not mine but inspired by this build found on the internet. Andre Middledorf  Рthanks.
